Better Off Ted

Better Off Ted is a funny new comedy on ABC that will hopefully stand the test of ratings!

It reminds me of the TV show Working which was on in the late 90s I believe, and starred Fred Savage. This show, unfortunately did not last long.

BOT is smart, funny and has likable characters. The title character, Ted, works for Veridian Dynamics. I missed the pilot, so I'm not sure how the story begins, but he's the semi-normal one of the office.

I love seeing Portia de Rossi on TV again. She was fantastic as Lindsay Bluth on Arrested Development (Yet another great TV Show blown into oblivion by executive decision, am I sensing a pattern here?). This character however is the exact opposite of Lindsay, and I think she plays it well.

My favorite episode so far is Racially Sensitive. The company install "energy-saving" utilities that are activtated by the reflection of light off of skin. Great idea in theory, however this poses a problem for the black employees, who can't even get a drink of water because they aren't being seen by the sensors. In an attempt to fix the problem, things only get worse! I'm never one to reveal much about shows or movies, so I'll let you see for yourself!

Don't be faked out by the Veridian Dynamics commercials, which are also hilarious!

I wonder how do smart TV shows like these get canceled while ridiculus shows like Family Guy not only stay on the air, but are brought back even after being canceled?!?! Is this what we have become? Mindless idiots that are only amused by cheap and low humor? If you've seen the movie Idiocracy, you may be as scared as I am...

Anyway, if you are a fan of Arrested Development, and don't mind politically-incorrect humor, you should watch Better Off Ted on ABC on Wednesdays!! And you can catch up now at ABC.com.

  1. I came to the Arrested Development party really late by way of the DVDs. It has to be the funniest, wittiest, smartest thing I've ever seen on TV and it's a royal travesty that it got canceled. I'll check out Better Off Ted.

p.s. Thanks so much for stopping by yesterday!

  2. Wasn't Portia on Ally McBeal, too? Seems she's gone into hiding since marrying Ellen DeGeneres. Glad she's back, though. AD was a funny, quirky show, wasn't it?
